It
is not unheard of for some people to get pimples/zits on
their scalp or get 'scalp acne'. Generally these pimples will take a few weeks
to even a month to clear up. This type of pimple is known in
the medical community as ‘acne necrotica miliaris’ and
seems to flourish during times of high stress or when the
scalp is oilier than normal. The opposite can occur if you
haven’t shampooed as often as usual or are using hair care
products that use a lot of oil.
To speed healing, shampoo frequently use clear pores
and apply an acne remedy with Benzoyl peroxide (warning
avoid contact with eyes and please note that Benzoyl
peroxide can stain fabrics). If the scalp
acne becomes itchy use an anti-itch product that
contains cortisone or wash your hair several times with a
coal tar shampoo.
